     The International Conference on Academic Libraries (ICAL-2023) is being organized by Delhi University Library System from 5th to 8th April, 2023. The scope of the conference will be: Knowledge Sharing, ICT Management, New Education Policy 2020, Digital Repository, Indian Knowledge System, Library and Research Ecosystem, Library-Faculty Relationships, and User-centric Services.  


THEME OF THE CONFERENCE:  Transforming Academic Libraries: Evolution, Innovation, Quality, Transfiguration

 CONFERENCE OBJECTIVES

Vision 2030: Identifying academic library vision for the 2030 and the roles that libraries and librarians should perform in realizing this vision;

Identifying Strategies: Identifying strategies for improving library performance in the context of local factors, constraints and circumstances;
New Framework: Evolving new frameworks, new programmes for national and international collaboration and cooperation for pooling and sharing resources to improve information access to support education, research, and learning;
Best Practices: Identifying best practices in all the spheres of academic library management, in particular library research ecosystem; and
Policies and Programmes:
Evolving policies, programmes, and strategies for governmental approval and eventually implementing them for holistic development of academic libraries in terms of tools, techniques, procedures, practices and systems for the management of library operations, services, and facilities with efficiency and effectiveness.


CONFERENCE OUTCOME PLANNED

Road Map: To come up with a road map to reposition academic libraries to the centre stage of the education system in developed and developing countries with particular reference to India;
Policy Framework:
To come up with a draft policy framework for consideration of the policy makers as a means to implement the proposed road map;
Best Practices: To identify best practices in all the spheres of academic library management, in particular digital repository management;
Professional Development: To prepare mid-career in-service professionals for digital library management to enable them to take on increasingly demanding leadership roles in academic libraries;
Emerging Roles: To identify new roles that academic libraries need to play in the context of emerging knowledge economy as a means to support teaching and learning process; and
Advocacy: To outline programmes for academic library advocacy
