For Teachers - The
Gillette Economics for Leaders (GEFL) programs are open to all social
studies teachers needing professional development. These workshops offer
participants lesson plans, advanced economics content, and either graduate or
continuing education credits.
The workshops are offered at no cost and a
$150 travel stipend is available to all participants completing the program. FTE
is holding these workshops throughout the country this summer.

The Mission
The mission of the FTE is to introduce young individuals, selected for their leadership potential, to an economic way of thinking about national and international issues, and to promote excellence in economic education by helping teachers of economics become more effective educators.
Working for You
The Foundation offers free workshops for high school educators and students. This site includes workshop dates, locations, and registration information, as well as resources, activities, and lesson plans for teaching economics.
Are FTE programs effective?
- In 2005, students averaged a 22 percent increase in scores between pre and post economic tests, conveying a significant advance in understanding economics.
- "Nearly all (95%) teachers felt their participation in the course would improve their teaching. Ninety-five percent of teachers overall and 100% of teachers in five sites reported that they would recommend the program to a colleague."
