MSE
is a Centre for post-graduate teaching and research in economics. It was founded by some of the
leading economists, bankers and industrialists. MSE offers a Masters
degree in economics in collabaration with Anna University and a Ph.D degree in economics with
the degree being offered by the Anna University and University of
Madras, respectively. MSE also
undertakes research on its own as well as carries out research projects
sponsored by various agencies such as, government departments, Ministries
and International Organizations.
In the past it has undertaken research funded by agencies such as
World Resources Institute, Ministry of Environment & Forests,
Government of India, the Union Planning Commission, Indian Space Research
Organisation, United Nations Development Programme, Royal Netherlands
Embassy, International Labour Organisation, The World Bank and Australian
Centre for International Agricultural Research. In 2003, the National
Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) gave MSE an "A" grade for a
period of 5 years. The School has also been awarded a Centre of Excellence
in Environmental Economics by Ministry of Environment and Forests,
Government of India for a period of 5 years |
