About the Workshop

The Delhi University Library System (DULS) is a distributed system of information resources and services spread across both the campuses. DULS is recognized for its collection and services. It holds remarkable collection of over 17 lakhs documents consisting of books, print periodicals, monographs, theses and other resources.

In the last two decades, there has been a paradigm shift in format of publishing. More and more information is being published electronically in the form of e-journals and e-books. Libraries and information centres have an important role to play by making provisions of quality content and imparting information literacy skills among the users. The DULS is continuously striving to strengthen its digital collections and services to better serve the users in now information environment. DULS started subscription of electronic databases as early as 2006 which is still continued and Delhi University is one of the top most users of these databases. The acquisition of e-books begun in 2020 for selected books in pick and choose model. In the year 2023 subject collections from 9 reputed publishers of the world have been acquired and over 83000 e-books and digital archives have been added as centenary collections to strengthen the digital information services of the University.

Training the Trainers Workshop on Availability and Accessibility of e-Books and Digital Archives is being organised with a view to educate the library professionals working in University of Delhi and its colleges. It is expected  that the trained Library Professionals in turn will train the users served by them and promote the usage of e-Books. Training the Trainers Workshop on Availability and Accessibility of e-Books and Digital Archives for University and College Library Professionals is organised to train the library and information professionals for onward transmission of the skills to end users.
 

Workshop Objectives
 

• To acquaint the University and College Library Professionals with the Availability and Accessibility of e-Books and Digital Archives;
• To show how e-Books and other e-resources could be of immense use in academic pursuit and research;
• To provide an indication as to what is there related to the area of study and research in Campus departments as well  as in colleges;
• To promote the use of e-Books and other resources in academics and research;
• To describe specific features of various e-Books platforms;
• To acquaint the University and College Library Professionals with the use of various search techniques to retrieve relevant information.

Who can participate 
 

Library Professionals from University of Delhi and its Colleges of the under mentioned categories can participate in the program:

• Assistant Librarians

• College Librarians

• Professional Assistants

• Semi-Professional Assistants working in DULS and Colleges.

There is NO Registration Fee for participation.

It will help us to formally invite you for the program. 

Please note that since we have limited number of seats for this workshop, it will be purely on first come first serve basis.
