Dr. D V Singh is presently working as University Librarian. Prior to joining University of Delhi he has served as University Librarian in Kurukshetra University, Kurukshetra, as Librarian at prestigious Shri Ram college of Commerce, University of Delhi. He was the President of Indian Library Association (ILA) (2010-2013), which represents India’s Library profession.  He has also served ILA as Sr. Vice President (2007-2010) and General Secretary (2002-2007).  He is Member of National Book Promotion Council of Department of Higher Education, Government of India since Oct. 2011. He is an active Member of well-known Raja Ram Mohan Library Foundation. At Bureau of Indian Standards, New Delhi  he was member of Documentation and Information Sectional Committee (2001-2007) and also Member, National Committee for World Book Capital.


He has published 19 research papers on various subjects relating to digitisation, automation, IT and multimedia application, management and transformational leadership in libraries. Apart from being Editor/ Editor-in-Chief of twelve volumes, he was also on the board of refereed business Journal, Business Analyst. He has authored seven books on academic library system. He has translated IFLA Public Library Guidelines and BLISc Course materials of  Indira Gandhi National Open University, Delhi into Hindi. 


He completed his Ph. D on Transformational Leadership and Change Management creating much applauded insights into how change needs to be managed in today’s dynamic environment. Earlier he did M.A. in Ancient Indian History from Gurukul Kangri University in First Division and M. Lib. Sc. from Kurukshetra University. As a part of his personal update program to keep abreast of latest developments in the profession and broadening his horizon he has completed courses  in Record Management from National Archives of India (1990) and PG Diploma in Digital Library and Information Management from Tata Institute of Social Science, Mumbai (2010).


He was also the Member of Academic Council, University of Delhi, the highest body of the University on academic matters. He was also member of Admission Committee of Faculty of Medical Sciences and Homoeopathic Medicines Admission committee. Recognising his administrative capabilities he has been given the responsibility of managing the hostel of Shri Ram college of Commerce since 2006, longest stint so far for this job for anyone in the College.  Recognising his services to the profession he was awarded Best College Librarian Award (2000), Promoter of ILA Award (2000) and Gidwani Deshpandey Best Academic Librarian Award (2009).


He has visited England, France, Germany, Italy, Switzerland, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Thailand, Nepal, Bhutan, Maldives, Indonesia and studied nineteen libraries in U K such as Oxford, LSE etc.

Mr. Salim Anwar is presently working as Deputy Librarian in Central library. Passed M.sc. from Aligarh Muslim University and M.Lib.I.Sc. from University of Delhi. Joined Delhi University Library System as Assistant Librarian in 1979. Discharged various assignments covering all library services and other administrative areas. Presently looking after Computerized Library Services division.

Dr.Tariq  Ashraf has been educated  at Hindu College, University of
Delhi and holds Doctoral degree in Library & Information Science from Department of Library & Information Science, University of Delhi. He is currently working as Deputy Librarian at University of Delhi, and has earlier worked as Librarian at IIM, Lucknow, IILM, and Centre For Policy Research, New Delhi. Dr. Ashraf has contributed 25 research papers in various prestigious national and international journals and has been resource person at several workshops and seminars. Among his four well selling books,  a commissioned documentation of India's Parliamentary  elections since their inception in 1952 till the last election held in year 2004,  has been recognized by researchers, policy makers, psychologists and media persons as one of outstanding contribution to election studies. He has been member of Editorial Boards of several prestigious publications like Fortune Journal of International Management, ILA Bulletin, RRC Newsletter & MANLIBNET
Review. Dr. Ashraf  is winner of international paper contest held by
American Society for Information Science and Technology (ASIST) and recipient of Eugene Garfield travel grant to USA in year 2003.



Mr. Rajesh Singh

Mr. Rajesh Singh is presently working as Deputy Librarian Electronic Resources & Training Division, University of Delhi, Delhi. A Gold Medalist from Banaras Hindu University, Varanasi, Mr. Singh has served various organizations in different professional capacities. He has served Indian School of Mines, Dhanbad, as Sr. Professional Assistant; IASE, MJP Rohilkhand University, Bareilly, as Assistant Librarian and Dr. RML Avadh University, Faizabad, also as Assistant Librarian. He has around two dozens of papers to his credit.


Mr. Singh's area of interest and specialization includes Information Literacy and Competency, WWW Resources and Searching Techniques.




Dr. Lokesh Sharma

Dr. Lokesh Sharma has joined as Deputy Librarian I/c of the Ratan Tata Library (RTL), at the Delhi School of Economics (DSE) in March, 2006 after serving as the Librarian for more than a decade in the Ramjas College, Delhi University. Before joining the Ramjas College, he served for about 19 years in the Delhi University Library System as Professional Assistant. He is B. Sc., M. A. in Sociology, M. L. I. S. from DU and Ph. D. in Lib. & Inf. Sc. from the University of Rajasthan, Jaipur.   He is recipient of  Gold Medal from Rajasthan Univ., Jaipur for securing 1st Position at B. Lib. in the year 1975-76, Merit Certificate for securing 2nd position in the order of merit of First divisioners  at MLIS examination of DU in the year 1983-84 and Bronze Medal from FAO (UN)  for participating in an Essay Competition in the year 1984.

To his credit, he has got computerized Ramjas College Library and Ratan Tata Library DU in the years 2000 and 2010 respectively. He has authored and edited five books and more than fifteen research articles in national and international journals. In addition, He has attended various national and international conferences in India and abroad and presented papers.



Dr. Narender Kumar,

Dr. Narender Kumar is working as deputy librarian in central library. A doctorate from Delhi University, Dr. Narender Kumar begins his career from British Council Division Library, Delhi and further moved to College of Business Studies, University of Delhi as Librarian. During his service career he has participated as resource person at several workshops and seminars related to his profession.

Mr. R.P. Singh, Assistant Librarian (Selection Grade), joined the Delhi University Library System as Professional Assistant in 1982 after completing M.Sc.(Physics) and M.Lib.Sc. He was promoted to Assistant Librarian in 1986 and worked in modern European Languages Library, Slavonic and Finno-Ugrian Library, South Campus Library, Law Faculty Library as Incharge and Central Science Library. At present he is in Central Library. He has attended a number of conferences and seminars of his professional interest and is a life member of Indian Library Association.

Mrs. Aruna Garg, Assistant Librarian in Delhi University Library System is presently working as In-charge, Law Faculty Library, University of Delhi, Delhi- 110007. She joined DULS in 1978 as Professional Assistant. She has worked in various Libraries of System including Arts Library, Braille Library and Central Library. She did her post graduation in Political Science, Bachelors & Master Degree in Library & Inf. Science and LL.B. from Delhi University. Beside this she completed her M.Phil. in Library & Inf. Science in 2007.


During her service career she has attended seminars of her profession and interest and is a life member of ILA.





Dr. M.P. Singh



Dr. Mahender Pal Singh, Assistant Librarian in DULS presently working as Incharge Law Centre-II Library, Faculty of Law. Initially Dr.Singh started his career as Documentation Assistant in National Informatics Centre, Government of India.w.e.f. 6th May 1981. After that Dr. Singh left the NIC and joined the IIT, New Delhi Library as Senior Library Assistant w.e.f. 18/02/1982. On 30/05/1982 Dr. Singh joined DULS as Professional Assistant. He has worked in different libraries of DULS as Arts Library, Braille Library, Central Library, Department of Zoology Library and Faculty of Law Library. Dr. Singh obtained his master’s degree in economics and psychology. He did B.Ed., M.L.I.Sc., M.Phil. and Ph.D. from University of Delhi.

Ms. Tasnim Zia, Assistant Librarian is M.Phil in Library and Information Science. She did her Honours in Science and Bachelors in Library Science from Aligarh University. After completing her Masters in Arts she joined Delhi University Library System and did her Masters in Library and Information Science from University of Delhi in 1991. She is at present also taking care of the post of Documentation Officer in the Department of East Asian Studies.
