National Digital Library
Ministry of Human Resource Development under its National Mission on Education through Information and Communication Technology has initiated the National Digital Library (NDL) pilot project to develop a framework of virtual repository of learning resources.
Filtered and federated searching is employed to facilitate focused searching so that learners can find out the right resource with least effort and in minimum time. It provides a single window search facility to act as a one-stop shop for all digital resources. Information can be personalized based on the education level, choice of language, difficulty level, media of content and such other factors while other Digital libraries may not include all these choices. This is thus like a ‘customised service’ provided in a 24x7 integrated environment where learners can find out the right resource with least effort and in minimum time.
NDL is an all-digital library that integrates all existing digitized and digital contents across Institutions of the nation to provide a single-window access with e-learning facility to different groups of users. It provides educational materials in various languages, in all disciplines, in different forms of access devices and caters to differently-abled learners as well.
NDL facilitates access to large multimedia information base. Please visit NDL site at https://ndl.iitkgp.ac.in and register your self to get access. Click the “Register” button and self register using an e-mail id which is in .ernet.in or ac.in or gov.in or res.in domain. Alternatively one may drop a mail to firstname.lastname@example.org giving first name, last name and e-mail id and the login credentials will be sent to the user.
